Documented AS9102 first article inspection — ballooned drawings, full dimensional verification, and material and special-process certification on the first part, before the lot ships.
First Article Inspection is the documented proof that a manufacturing process produces a part that meets every requirement on the drawing. Instead of sampling a finished lot, an FAI verifies the first production part against each characteristic on the print — every dimension, tolerance, note, finish, and material call-out — so a contracting officer, prime quality team, or program office can release the run with evidence, not assumption. Quick Brown Fox Solutions delivers First Article Inspection alongside prototype machining and production machining through an ISO 9001:2015 certified production network. QBF carries UEI MA3DSJEPMFQ8 and CAGE 201W8.
Part number, revision, drawing, and assembly accountability, tying the report to the exact configuration being verified.
Material certifications, special-process certifications (heat treat, plating, coating), and the functional test records the drawing calls for.
Every ballooned characteristic on the drawing, each with its specification and the actual measured result from the first article.
The report starts with a ballooned drawing — every dimension, tolerance, GD&T callout, note, and finish requirement is numbered so nothing is missed. Each ballooned characteristic is then measured on the first production part using calibrated equipment: benchtop optical comparator and calibrated hand gauging in-house, with CMM verification available through the production network for complex GD&T and datum schemes. Results are recorded against the specification on Form 3, and any nonconformance is flagged with disposition before the report is released.
The finished package bundles the ballooned print, the completed AS9102 forms, material and special-process certificates, and a certificate of conformance. Because the program, tool list, setup sheet, and inspection plan are archived under the network’s ISO 9001:2015 quality system, the same job repeats without a rebuild — and re-verifies cleanly on the next revision or delta FAI.
An FAI — full or partial (delta) — is typically triggered by a new part number, a drawing or design revision change, a change in manufacturing source or location, a change in process, tooling, or material, or a lapse in production of two years or more. It is a common flow-down on aerospace (AS9100), defense, and prime-contractor purchase orders, and is frequently paired with tight-tolerance work and source inspection. If your solicitation calls for AS9102, PPAP-style documentation, or DCMA source inspection, send the drawing and the clause and we will scope it.
